With floor tiles which need to be restored it is important to plan our the work required and to perform a test for clean in a small controlled area prior to working on the full floor. This allows you to establish the best materials and method of stripping old sealers, cleaning the tiles and grout and also then review which sealer will be used to give the finish the customer wants.
This test for clean and seal was on a very old Victorian Tiled lobby in North Berwick which had been re-found under a floor covering which had been in place for a number of years. The condition of the floor was solid but was covered in carpet glue, underlay and general soiling. The tiles needed quite a bit of work.
The test went well and the Victorian tiles came up clean with good colour. The customer requested a matt sealer and the Tile Doctor Colour Grow sealer will be perfect for this. The customer was very pleased with the test outcome and has given the job to us to transform the lobby floor. This will be completed in the next few weeks. An update on the finished floor will be posted.
Please note that the Colour Grow Matt Sealer has not been applied on the test clean area as this will be done once the entire floor has been completed.
