Victorian Tiles needing cleaned repaired and sealed.

This job was in Langholm, Dumfries and Galloway. The Victorian Tile floor had been laid throughout a large entrance and hallway leading to different rooms on he ground floor. The floor had some damage to tiles around the floor and had some soiling due to builders coming through while they were working in the property. The main thing for this floor was to seal it therefore protecting the lovely tiles.

In order to prevent excess while cleaning Victorian Tiles Tile Doctors Oxy-Gel was used and left for 10 minutes. A black pad and cleaning machine was used to ensure the soiling was lifted from the tiles. The residue was removed using a wet vac and then rinsed with clean water and shin removed with a wet vac.  Acid Gel was the used to further clean the floor tiles and also neutralise the floor from the alkaline cleaner just used. Acid Gel also helps deal with efflorescence (Salts).

Repairs were mainly to damaged tiles where they had been chipped or had old screw holes. Repairs were completed carefully using resin sticks which became part of the tile and blended in.

The sealer chosen for this floor was Tile Doctors Xtra Seal. This is a rich impregnating sealer. It gives an amazing finish when used with victorian tiles as well as being a tough and water repellent seal.

After care cleaning is important and the customer was given a sample of Tile Doctors PH Neutral Tile cleaner. This is a cleaner specially for sealed floors. As it is PH neutral it doesn’t affect the sealer where normal floor cleaners do.
